Stella's Place offers free mental health services to young adults ages 16 to 29 in Toronto. Queer Expressions is our new drop-in program designed as a bi-weekly series, welcoming young adults to a safe space with the intention to foster connection and build community, socialize, build new skills through group activities, educational workshops/seminars and reduce stress. We will be hosting a variety of different sessions each time that are unique and low barrier. These sessions will be running bi-weekly on Thursdays from 4:00pm-6:00pm. We welcome all gender, self-identified gender expressions, questioning, and allies. Important: This is a drop-in group that will take a maximum of 11 participants at a time. First come, first served. Weekly themes will be emailed to you the week prior, and any other additional, info. You may come into Stella’s Place open café to reserve your spot! Program running September 21st to December 14th.
Toronto-based artist/curator Jordan King will present a multi-media exhibition at The ArQuives gallery, highlighting materials held in our collection. The exhibition will explore the ways stage performance in nightclubs, cabarets, and drag venues offered opportunity for self-actualization for gender fluid, trans, and gender non-binary individuals in the second half of the 20th Century. The exhibition will be open to the public from September 21 – October 14.
