Inside Out’s 35th Anniversary tagline for 2025

For our 35th anniversary, we’re celebrating community, connection, and the stories we collect along the way.

Inspired by keychains and pins—nostalgic symbols of journeys and shared memories—this identity reflects the personal and collective experiences that shape our queer community. Carabiners play a key role, long connected to queer culture as symbols of strength, resilience, and self-expression. Often clipped to belts or bags, they serve as quiet signifiers of identity and belonging—tying into our theme of collecting experiences with a uniquely queer perspective.

Fun fact: The winner of our 2024 Audience Award for Best Short was History of the Carabiner (2024) by Gianna Mazzeo — a playful, poignant film that hooked audiences with its charm and heart.

The design features vibrant colours and playful, retro-inspired visuals, bridging past and future. Red nods to the red carpet, while pink—long associated with Inside Out—returns as an homage. This concept reinforces our festival as a third space where film and community intersect, honouring 35 years of queer storytelling.

Four illustrated panels each feature a keychain: a star-shaped keyring labeled "Inside Out," keys with tags reading "Unlocking Queer Cinema Since 1991," a carabiner marked "Three Out," and keys with a "35" tag.
