We kicked things off this week with our 2026 press launch, bringing filmmakers, media, and community into the same room for a first look at what’s ahead.
The lineup gave an early glimpse of a mix of bold, intimate, and wide-ranging stories, with highlights including Give Me the Ball, I Come Home, and Heals, alongside the docuseries In the Closet. It’s a strong snapshot of where queer storytelling is right now, expansive, personal, and not easy to box in.

The launch took place at Red Head Gallery, alongside the work of Pearl Van Geest (she/they), whose exhibition is currently on view and worth a visit. Photographer Ness Devos captured the energy of the evening, from arrivals to candid in-between moments, offering a glimpse into the start of this year’s Festival journey.

More than an announcement, the event was a starting point. Conversations flowing between artists, audiences, and collaborators, setting the tone for the kind of connection the Festival builds once it’s in full swing. Huge thank you to RBC for showing up in support, Touchwood PR for helping bring everything together, and to Krispie Kreme and Whiskful Thinking Bakery for the donated treats that kept everyone going.
