Inside Out is pleased to announce the seven Inside Out alumni selected to attend the 2026 Toronto International Film Festival as part of our RE:Focus Initiative.

Shaun Soutar is a queer-Latine filmmaker & theatre artist based in Toronto. Their artistic practice explores the intersections of queerness, race, and culture, and how this defines their own identity. Shaun’s work has been exhibited at Inside Out Film Festival, GEM Fest, Toronto Fringe Festival, and Second City.
Laura Stubbs is a Toronto-based writer and producer, and founder of Ticket Stubbs Productions. She tells queer, female-led stories that critically examine society, mental health and the human experience, all through a comedic lens. She is currently developing her series My Bully Mia, Speakhard and Ration-Elle.
Latavia Young is a filmmaker and creative director exploring family, culture, and love. Her co-directed documentary My Fierce Aunt Bianca premiered at Inside Out in 2024 and went on to screen at the MoMA and MoCADA. She is currently in post-production on her 16mm short film Peeling.
Beth Warrian is a writer/director fascinated by inner worlds, liminal states, and the spiritual dimensions of queer experience. Their work has won accolades including Best Canadian Short at Inside Out and CBC Short Film Face Off— Canada’s largest short film prize. They are currently developing their first feature.
Chloë Gordon is a lesbian filmmaker from Toronto whose work explores themes of queerness and identity, space and place, and relationality, with an emphasis on process and experimentation. Chloë has directed and produced short films that have screened at festivals across Canada, including Inside Out, Artifact Film Festival, and Images Festival.
Tricia Hagoriles is a Toronto-based filmmaker whose award-winning short films are visually unique with a sense of whimsy and humour that span genres and is often informed by her experiences as a queer, Filipino-Canadian millennial. Tricia is currently developing their first feature film.
Melani Wood is an award winning filmmaker and producer working across narrative and documentary film. Credits include THE SNAKE, which premiered at SXSW and won the Narrative Feature Special Jury Award for Best Performance, EVERYBODY’S MEG, a six time Canadian Screen Award nominated series and THE LAST DAYS OF APRIL, which premiered at Hot Docs.
